Wednesday 1 January 1873. Went into my district. Lunched in Sussex Square. Went to see Isabella. Dined at Mr Arnold’s, Mary, Charlie, Ella Hamilton, Mr Leonard, Mr Hanson & A.Thornewill dined there, we had a game at cards.
Thursday, 2 January 1873. Wet day did not go out.
Friday, 3 January 1873. Went to see Mary & the aunts & had lunch in Sussex Square, the Warrens are staying there.
Saturday, 4 January 1873. Left Waterloo by the 2.15 train arrived at Portsmouth at 4.45Dynely met me at the station.
Sunday, 5 January 1873. Went to church in the morning. Stayed with the children in the afternoon.
Monday, 6 January 1873. Went out to pay some bills for Alice. Went to church.
Tuesday, 7 January 1873. Went to see George.
Wednesday, 8 January 1873. Went to church. Had tea at the Mitchells at 6 o’clock.
Thursday, 9 January 1873. Wet day, did not go out.
Friday, 10 January 1873. Wrote to dear Maggie. Went to church. Took a walk round the castle with Polly & the children.
Saturday, 10 January 1873. Went to see Georgie in the afternoon.
Sunday, 12 January 1873. Went to S.Sude’s in the morning with Alice & in the afternoon with little Fanny & Clayton. Mr Mayhew, Polly & Clayton came to supper.
Monday, 13 January 1873 did not go out all day.
Tuesday, 14 January 1873. Philip Fisher left.
Wednesday, 15 January 1873. Went to church.
Thursday, 16 January 1873. Walked to the cemetery with Richard.
Friday, 17 January 1873. Went with the children for a walk on the beach & home by the castle.
Saturday, 18 January 1873. Went to see Georgie & to church.
Sunday, 19 January 1873. Went to church morning & afternoon.
Monday, 20 January 1873. Took a walk on the common with the children. Dined with the Mitchells. Col. Betes dined there.
Tuesday, 21 January 1873. Went to the Cumbly[?] With Polly, Clayton, Alice & the children.
Wednesday, 22 January 1873. Went to see the Bramleys & Mitchells. Left by 3 o’clock train from Portsmouth & arrived at Waterloo at five top 30.
Thursday, 23 January 1873. Lunched in Sussex Square. Went to see Isabella & came home in the carriage.
Friday, 24 January 1873. Went to lunch with Mary.
Saturday, 25 January 1873. Left by the 2.15 train for Redaing. Tina & Mrs met us at the station & we walked home. Miss Seymour came down for the day, she & George left at 4 o’clock.
Sunday, 26 January 1873. Went to church in the morning.
Monday, 27 January 1873. Took a walk with Tina.
Tuesday, 28 January 1873. Went with Emma to a procuile party at Mrs Crawshay. Left at 9 o’clock.
Wednesday, 29 January 1873. Took a long drive in the afternoon.
Thursday, 30 January 1873. Walked with Emily on the morning & drove into Redding in the afternoon,
Friday, 31 January 1873. Miss Seymour[?] came down. We went to an amateur concert at the Town Hall.
Saturday, 1 February 1873. We drove into Reading

to meet George Warre & Major Elles. Emily, I & Major Elles walked out.
Sunday, 2 February 1873. Did not go out on account of the heavy snow.
Monday, 3 February 1873. Took a walk with [?]. George & evening left.
Tuesday, 4 February 1873. Did not go out.
Wednesday, 5 February 1873. Went to a concert at the town hall.Seliene[?] Saying. Major Elles left for London.
Thursday, 6 February 1873. Drove into Reading.
Friday, 7 February 1873. Cousin Charlie went to London. Drove to the Station & walked with Emily in the afternoon to the Priory.
Saturday, 8 February 1873. Drove into Reading.
Sunday, 9 February 1873. Went to church at St Mary’s [?] & to Caversham in the afternoon.
Monday, 10 February 1873. Left Reading by the 4.5 train & arrived at home at 6 o’clock.
Tuesday 11 February 1873. Lunched & dined with Mary & Charles.
Wednesday, 12 February 1873. Wrote to dear Maggie. Blanche Curzon came to see me.
Thursday, 13 February 1873. Lunched with Bella. Went to see Auntie. Mrs Buckline[?] Also lunched with her. Uncle Anthony died.
Friday, 14 February 1873. Lunched with Auntie & went with her to see Mary. Drove home with Willie.
Saturday, 15 February 1873. Went to the great Western station to meet Eleanor Elles, Marion Elles went to Reading. I went with Eleanor to Langham place & saw Willie Elles & Edith. We went out shopping. I went to Norfolk Square & to Sussex Square. Alice & the children had arrived.
Sunday, 16 February 1873. Went to church morning & evening & to Norfolk Square in the afternoon.
Monday, 17 February 1873. Made the orange marmalade in the morning. Went to see the Miss Rougemont’s at 5 o’clock & had tea with them.

Wednesday, 19 February 1873. Lunched with Mary & dined in Sunderland Terrace.
Thursday, 20 February 1873. Lunched & dined at S.Lodge. Went with Mary to see Auntie.
Friday, 21 February 1873. Fanny’s birthday. Lunched in Sussex Square. Went out driving with Isabella & the children.
Saturday, 22 February 1873. Went to see Mary & Charlie after lunch, they walked part of the way home with me.
Sunday 23 February 1873. Went to church morning & afternoon.
Monday, 24 February 1873. Wet day. Did not go out.
Tuesday 25 February 1873. Went into my district.
Wednesday, 26 February 1873 (Ash Wednesday). Went to church with Papa.
Thursday, 27 February 1873. Held the soup kitchen. Walked over to Norfolk Square & saw the Queen on her way to see the Duchess of Inverness, Princess Beatrice was with her. Mary, Charlie, aunts E.& M., Harry Hamilton & Papa also dined in Norfolk Square.
Friday, 28 February 1873. Went to church & heard DrHersey[?] Preach, a beautiful sermon. Walked over to Sussex Square & stayed the night, Herbert & Bella came to dinner.
Saturday, 1 March 1873. Came home in the afternoon in the carriage with Auntie & Alice.
Tuesday, 2 March 1873. Went to church morning & evening & to the cemetery after lunch.
Monday, 3 March 1873. Went into my district.
Tuesday fourth of March 1873. Lunched with Mary. She, Charlie & Harry Hamilton came to dinner.
Wednesday, 5 March 1873.
Dear Isabella’s birthday. Lunched with Isabella Rougemont.
Thursday, 6 March 1873 went to Sussex Square. Went out Driving with Auntie &

Alice, we saw the Princess & the two little princes.
Friday seventh of March 1873. I went to see aunt Georgiana. In the afternoon went to see Isabella with the children.
Saturday, 8 March 1873. Took the children to see Mary. Went out driving with Auntie & Alice. In the afternoon Stanley & his wife & Mr & Mrs Westmacott called. Walked home with an at ½ past 5 o’clock.
Sunday, 9 March 1873. Went to church morning & evening.
Monday 10th of March 1873. Collected in my district the money for the fund. Heard from [???].
Tuesday, 11 March 1873. Called on the Miss Rougemont’s & on Mrs Moore, Mrs Fenn[?] & Mrs Gloag. Little Tommy’s birthday.
Wednesday, 12 March 1873. Went to see my aunts, lunched & dined with Mary & Charlie, Mrs Thornewill staying there.
Thursday, 13 March 1873. Lunched with Mrs Child. Blanche Curzon came to see me. Dined with the Miss Rougemont’s, Herbert & Isabella were there. We sat down 12 to dinner.
Friday 14th of March 1873. Lunched in Norfolk Square. Called with aunt G.on the Miss Bailey’s & Mrs Norman.
Saturday, 15 March 1873. Lunched in Sunderland Terrace, went to see Mary & Charlie, they walked part of the way back with me.
Sunday, 16 March 1873. Went to church in the morning, did not go out again.
Monday, 17 March 1873. Collected in my district.
Tuesday, 18 March 1873. Met Emily Warre at the Paddington station and went shopping with her, she left for Reading by the 3.40 train. Heard from dear Maggie. Dined with Miss Rougemont.
Wednesday, 19 March 1873. Lunched in Sussex Square & went with Auntie & Alice to the horticultural[?]. Home in the carriage.

Monday, 24 March 1873. Lunched & dined in Sunderland Lodge. Mrsayard also dined. Went out shopping in the afternoon for Margaret.
Tuesday, 25 March 1873. Walked with Papa to Sunderland Terrace, went to S.Lodge, Mary & Mrs Thornewill walked part of the way home with me.
Wednesday, 26 March 1873. Went to see Isabella Rougemont, dined in Norfolk Square. Aunt Margaret & aunt Emma also there.
Thursday, 27 March 1873. Lunched at S.Lodge. Went over the industrial school with Mrs Thornewill, Mary, Charlie, Mrs T & Mr Philpott dined here.
Friday, 28 March 1873. Lunched with Isabella.
Saturday, 29 March 1873. Oxford & Cambridge boat race. Lunched with my aunts & went to see Mary. She, Charlie & Mrs Thornewill walked part of the way home with me. I called on the Miss Rougemonts.
Sunday, 30 March 1873. Went to church in the morning. Walked to Norfolk Square after lunch.
