 Dorrery to Loch Caluim. 01/04/2012

The day was pleasant enough when we left Wick in the cars to head for Dorrery. It started to deteriorate as we arrived at Dorrery. The wind had picked up and was driving heavy sheets of drizzle in a south westerley direction.

It was on with the waterproofs and off along the track past Dorrery Lodge. We were sheltered for a short time by Dorrery Hill, but once out on the open moor we received the full blast of the wind and rain. At least it is a good track to Loch Caluim and we made excellent time along it.

Luckily the fishing hut at Loch Caluim was unlocked and we took advantage of the shelter inside to have our pack lunch. The hut has deteriorated since I was there last. The roof is leaking badly and the only occupants recently have been mice.

I tried taking some photos on the walk but the rain was so heavy it was not good to expose the camera too long in the wet conditions.

We made our way back along the track to Dorrery and were glad to reach the cars and go home to get dried out. It was a good test for my waterproof jacket and trousers. The trousers failed!
