CAMSTER TO THUSTER. 08/01/12

It is now possible to walk directly from Camster through to Thuster on the new forestry road which has been put in for the construction of the wind farm at Camster.

The first spots of rain greeted us as we set off from Camster on the forestry track just before the standing stones. A kilometre or so in a large swathe of forest has been removed to make way for the wind turbines. Several substantial bridges have also been built to cross the Achairn Burn which meanders along the route. We soon came to the edge of the forest and decided to stop for lunch. We sheltered in amongst the trees out of the heavy rain. The occasional big drips from overhanging branches managed to find their way into my mug of tea and on to my piece!

We decided to back track and follow another new forestry road which now connects to the Blingery track. This eventually joins up with the track which takes you to the wind turbines at Achairn and on to the main Wick to Watten road at Thuster.
