Ann Thomas

Ann taught before becoming a teacher-training lecturer then a Supervisor of Art for Stoke-on-Trent Education Authority. After marrying she opened her own gallery.
Commissions include: the National Trust for Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage, the Forestry Commission and Royal Castles.
Ann specialises in pure watercolour using the transparent and translucent quality of the paint in conjunction with special papers.
She achieves the statement required by controlling the paint as it flows.
Ann is a fine draughtswoman and has an eye for perspective, detail and composition. Her main subjects include buildings, land, sea and skyscapes and - because she paints mainly in situ – her work has a strong feeling of place and atmosphere.
However, Ann does work from photographs and for some commissions, animal portraits, etc it is essential.
Ann recommends artwork is sent unmounted in a roll. Saved carriage costs can then be used on quality mounting and framing.
