Jane Walker

L.Jane Walker (nee Scott).
D.A. (Edin).
Living and working of the West Coast of Scotland offers me the opportunity as an artist to express myself on several levels through the medium of painting. My chosen media is acrylic, oil, gouache & pastel.
The starting point is landscape (or animals or people within it and/or their relationship to it).
Subject is observed: - colour, tone, light, form, (natural or man-made) mood, atmosphere, seasonal patterns, all of which are noted and worked and reworked to a conclusion. Each stage is a challenge, full of surprises, chance and risk taking.
The final piece is a personal, emotional response to a particular place or a specific moment in time.

I studied Drawing & Painting at the Edinburgh College of Art where I graduated in 1973. Robin Philipson was head of the painting school and Elizabeth Blackadder was my tutor. David Michie was a major influence.
My paintings are in private collections through-out Scotland and the U.K.
