Karen Liversedge, Glass Artist/Designer
Living and working in Oban, Argyll, my work draws inspiration from diverse sources, reflecting a background in fashion and textiles, to an interest in Moorish art, to experiencing the clarity of light in the West Coast of Scotland.
Proportion, precision and perspective are essential concepts in my work.
Enticing freedom of light to project imagery is a prime motivator.
My intention is to explore space and light enabling the viewer to actively create changing images when moving around a piece.
Positive and negative are constant energy sources, at once tranquil and dynamic.
I find my work transfers into sculpture, architectural and interior design, linking sandblast carving, gilding, verre églomisé, UV bonding and LED technologies.
I established my Oban workshop in 2005. Pieces are made to commission, for exhibition and are available from selected galleries.
