Darlington Ch Show and Bearded Collie Club Open Show

It seemed such a sad occasion going to the Darlington Ch show without Blaze, and seeing his name in the catalogue, but the sunshine at the lovely Newby Hall venue, and being among understanding friends, certainly went a way towards cheering our little party up.

It was great for Meg to win the Veteran Bitch class, and we were just as pleased to have Diva take a good second place in a good-sized Postgraduate class, before Meg was awarded the Best Veteran in Breed rosette.  We then realised this meant she had to compete for Best Veteran in Group, so after a quick trot round the trade stands we adjourned to the main ring.

Absolutely delighted to say that the day ended on a high note, with Meg winning Best Veteran in the Pastoral Group, and a most wonderful rosette for her collection - well done that Meggie!!

It was to prove a busy weekend as on Sunday we had a trip to Snaith to attend the BCC Open Show.  Unfortunately the showing part of the afternoon was somewhat curtailed due to the pressing need to get Meg back to Newby Hall to take part in Best Veteran in Show, so she missed her class, but Mirk (suitably scrubbed up) had a crack at showing for a change, winning a nice blue rosette, Ellie took third in Open Bitch, and Diva managed to win the Starters' Obedience class (despite never having had an obedience lesson in her life!) as well as the Special Working Bitch class.  Judges were Robynne Parker (Breed) and Rachel Cudworth (Obedience)

After a slightly nerve-wracking wait Meg trotted happily into the big ring at Newby Hall, giving a good performance to represent the Pastoral Group, but pipped for any further awards by the beautiful Irish Setter and Boxer veterans.

Many thanks from Meg to all her friends and admirers for their kind comments, she has thoroughly enjoyed being the centre of attraction this weekend!
