Our Local Heroes.
I decided to set up this page to allow friend's to post a picture of a hero in their family.
I got the idea during my last look at the memorial of my home village Stonehouse Lanarkshire and noticed a DCM holder Gavin Black and a United States Congretional Medal of Honour holder Archie Mathies, both posthumous, both in my grandparents age group.
Any picture from any service period will be most welcome on this year of anniversaries of both great wars and others!
Both my grandfather's were ploughmen during the Second World War but to me they were heroes as an open tractor and a team of horses in all weather conditions were as essential as a tank.
