In early 1962 the battalion took part in a trial for a new system of rations for consumption in the field.
The trial entailed lots of hard work from barracks to the woods under canvas in the cold of a German winter, with the men being closely monitored regarding their body conditions. The trial is explained in more detail in Major Baynes book.
The pictures show the regiment during the exercise and how they lived under the tree and canvas canopy.

The pictures were only identified by having Ration Trials with no names on the back. I will take a few hours one day with the magnifying glass to study faces closely and link faces.
