Contributions of stories which fit into this century will be welcomed though it may not be possible to publish them all and editorial rights will remain with the website owner.

Please try to keep the bios reasonably short and well illustrated if possible. Copyright remains with the author and the picture creators.  Please respect the latter especially and acknowledge it.

Your name and a contact email that you don’t mind being in the public domain should be added for further information about your subject.

Please remember that this is not a genealogy website. These exist already in abundance. Nor does it pretend to be an academic database. By all means refer to these in your further reading suggestions.

What I hope we can contribute is an accumulation of interesting personal stories of people great and small. Fitted together in their  contexts they will begin to demonstrate wider social history patterns which are significant for us today. This, I hope will keep us from the danger of imposing patterns and judgements in advance. May I listen to that, too.

Please try to make the stories pleasurable to the general reader without resorting to fiction or sensationalism. We are in the business of engaging people in their history, of engendering curiosity and deeper thought about the past.
