One of the initial tasks undertaken by the Project Team was to identify the museums, archives, libraries and historical societies in Mid Wales and into North Wales.
We also visited the key communities which appeared to have increased export production of cloth resulting from the demands of the Plantaion Trade, to find and meet local historians and to see what locally produced histories of the areas there were and if these included anything about the production of Welsh Plains.
The main reason for this was to ensure that this project did not appear to be about "outsiders" coming in to research the local history of the early wool trade, but rather we wanted to make it clear that our aim was to link up with local people to help them explore and understand the local history of wool production for home use and export.
