La Pas
The weird Witchdoctor's Stall is in LLa Pas open-air market. Animal skins, stuffed birds and all kinds of seeds and dried small insects and animals are on the shelves. The large basket holds dozens of llama fetuses. One is buried in honour of Mama Pacha, the earth goddess, in the garden of a new house. Statuettes of Mama Pacha are in the centre of this sketch. Clearly visible from the city is a white peaked mountain. We hired a 4X4 to take us there. It was a dangerous journey along icy tracks along the ed=ges of high cliffs. At 15000 feet we came to a lodge. A workman paid our driver to take him down the mountain on the roof rack. A freezing cold ride of about 20 miles. (Drawing Pen)_
