Bogata is the capital city of Columbia. The Gold Museum has a collection of superbly sculptured, pure gold artifacts - figures, birds, animals, insects, and everyday items - all just two or three inches tall. They date from the Inca period. Somehow, they escaped the eyes of the Conquistadores as shiploads of these and other gold artifacts were taken to Spain, melted down, and lost forever.
