R Leishman Memorial 4's

On Saturday 3rd May the Club held its Robert Leishman Memorial Invitation Fours competition, generously sponsored by R Leishman and Son, that attracted a good field from around the country including teams from Ayr Seafield, Weirs Recreation in Glasgow and Vale of Leven as well as the local clubs. The standard of entries was so high that the field included the 2009 Scottish and British Isles singles champion in the Ayr team that was unable to qualify from their section. The final was between the home fours of Bobby Dalziel, Archie Johnston, Bobby Dalziel Snr (Argyll) and Gary Anderson and that of David Brown, Hugh MacDonald, Donald Martin and sponsor Brian Leishman and this produced what was probably the match of the day and resulted in a narrow win for the Dalziel team. It is of great credit to all the competitors that there were very few complaints about the scourging wind that blew more than a few winning bowls off course during the course of the day. Presidents Jimmy and Shona Anderson presented the trophy and and prizes to the players.
