GRASSHOPPERS - there are only five species in the county (as far as is known). Their chirping adds pleasure to any outing. Each species has a distinctive chirp and it is a bonus to try and identify them by sound.

Meadow Grasshopper - Chorthippus parallelus
Common Green Grasshopper - Omocestus viridulus
Mymeleotettix maculata - Mottled Grasshopper
Common groundhopper - Tetrix undulata
