Habitat maps of Renfrewshire

Habitat maps are valuable records of the distribution of different types of habitats to be found in an area. They use a colour coding system to represent the main types. The standard system used in the Renfrewshire Maps (link below) is called the Phase 1 system.

There is also a more complex system of classifying of habitat types used for more detailed studies called the National Vegetation Classification (NVC).

In 1998 Renfrewshire Council commissioned a habitat survey of (then called) Renfrew District. The data is not available through the Council's website - not even the biodiversity section. But it is available through the link below. This is the only recent survey of this kind.
