Transport
The aim of this Unit is to develop some understanding of the essential concepts of mechanics and to foster an awareness of how these relate to familiar aspects of transportation.
Pupils will develop a fuller understanding of the effects of forces, friction and energy transformations.
Towards the end of the Unit, pupils have the opportunity to develop their understanding of the principle of conservation of energy and to consider the energy implications of car crashes and the dependence of stopping distance on vehicle speed.
