MY AIR RIFLES.

I currently own three Air Rifles, these are a BSA Meteor (.177), a SMK QB78DL (.22) and a BAM DB4 Custom (.22).

The BSA Meteor.

I was fortunate enough to have been given this rifle by my Sister. The Meteor is a MK7 model and it is in .177 (4.5mm) calibre. I have fitted a BSA 4 x 32 essencial telescopic sight and this is a perfect and lightweight break barrel rifle for "plinking" in the garden.

The SMK QB78DL.

This is a chinese made weapon, chinese offerings are  often berated by some but revered by many with dedicated websites and clubs in support of the huge following that chinese airguns have.

The QB78DL is a Co2 powered rifle, taking two 12 gramme gas cartridges to provide propulsion. This is a "bolt action" rifle in .22 (5.5mm) calibre and the rifle is fitted with a mildot 4 x 32 telescopic sight also by SMK. This is a very effective rifle during the warmer months but less so during cooler periods.

The SMK DB4 Custom.

Another chinese offering, very crude but probably my favourite of the three rifles that I currently own.

This particular rifle is known as an "underlever" with a large breech giving access to the pellet port. This rifle is cocked by pulling down the underlever and whilst holding the lever back with one hand, load a pellet with the other hand !!!. I have heard of one instance where one rather unfortunate individual lost two fingers through failure of the unreliable "beartrap" safety mechanism.

This rifle is .22 (5.5mm) calibre and is sighted using the factory fitted "iron open sights".

All in all, coupled with a super hollow point pellet, this particular rifle has proved to be an effective tool when faced with the task of dispatching vermin.
