Discoveries
FireplaceJune 2007 - This fireplace, in one of the front bedrooms, had been bricked up, cemented over and a radiator put in front of it. We have found a Victorian Fire, but still looking for a mantel to fit. | Signature?Nov '07 - On having a few floorboards up to lay central heating pipes, this was found on the underside. In blue chalk the two names have been written, or signed, 'Bush' and 'M Home' The board had already been cut and only the 'H' remains, 'ome' was already missing. | | The chickens obviously like their new home, we now have two more chickens laying, that makes three eggs a day. There is no excuse not to bake now! | June 08 - Oh, wow! While removing plaster and chipboard from the walls in the entrance hall, David discovered some shelving! Another piece of recyling? ..or were they once used? I think this will make a great place for Uncle Christopher's novels! They have come 'home' at last! | | June 08 - Now what is this? A hole? Should it be there? There would have been one in the side of each chimney. Was it for cleaning? One, nearest is still filled with clay lump, or plaster, the other had bricks in it! Any ideas? Please add to the blog. | My friend and I were landscaping the front garden and dug up this bottle. It is very similar, although slightly smaller, to one listed in Millers Antiques! Is it really that old? How much??? | | | | |
