Miller Mathieson

Miller Mathieson, part of the triumvirate who were the management team of Douglas AFC for the best part of ten years recently returned for a visit to Douglas, where he met with some former players and officials

Miller left the village in 1976 and headed to his homeland in Aberdeenshire. He continued his sporting interests, coaching young athletes and travelling across the country.

He further developed his love of football by becoming part of Ellon Utd Juniors FC. As he always did Miller put his heart and soul into the club, fund raising, organising, and genearally striving to put the club on a solid foundation.

In his 83rd year the club have recognised his endeavours over the years by naming a new committe room/hospitality suite after him. The above picture is a group of Douglas AFC players at the Miller Mathieson Suite in a surprise visit to Miller. In the evening, the Douglas party including some wives/partners attended a fund raising event for Ellon Utd.  With amazing generosity Millers daughter Kath and husband Sean organised and paid for the Douglas party's dinner.
