Douglas Juveniles were formed in Aug 1958 by three of the management team of the defunct Douglas West Rovers and played in the Lanarkshire Juvenile League. Charlie Wilson was match secretary and Davy Johnston was his right hand man.

One of the players, local boy John Hastings, organised the purchase of the first home and away stips, both were vertical stripes, one red and white, the other black and white.

In their first game they were beaten 7-1 by Douglas Water Primrose

The team began to knit together and they came away from playing a strong Shotts team with a creditable point.

                         

        

 

The teams average age was very young with Drew Bain and Bill Shulf McMillan not long out of schools football.  Other local players included Adam Lawson, Nelson Foster, Billy McDonald and Alistair Kay.

 

Douglas Water lads Lex Gold and Roger Hynds, both later to sign for Rangers, also played for Douglas Juveniles.
