JIM CLIFFORDFollowing the death of our fitba brother Jim Clifford, his cremation service will be held at Holytown crematorium on Thursday 13th April 11.30am. Jim was a class act in the very successful Douglas Amateur FC team of the early seventies. previously he played with Hamilton Accies, Motherwell and Meadow Thistle. Katharine Mathieson It was with great sadness that we received the news of the sudden and untimely death of Kath. Only a few months ago she, along with her husband Sean, arranged for a group of ex DAFC players to attend a dinner in Ellon, at which her dad Miller was to be honoured for his long service to Ellon Utd FC. Her Remembrance service which was held in Ellon parish church, was delivered with great dignity by her husband and the Mathieson family. A very large turnout was a credit to the memory of a kind, caring and considerate lady held in much esteem by all who knew her. Davie Posted by david anderson on 02 December 2021 Miller Mathieson I've lived in Ellon, Aberdeenshire for 25 years and the local football team, Ellon United, have had the support of Miller Mathieson as a club official and fund-raiser for many years now. The club have recently installed a pitch-side committee/hospitality suite and they are naming it after Miller. They have approached me as a past colleague with knowledge of Miller's contribution to football before his own move to Ellon to provide them with info about the great man's history in Douglas. I have been a frequent reader and admirer of the Kenny Sludden website, and would appeal to anyone associated with the Douglas Club to SEND ME STORIES AND OR ACCOUNTS YOU HAVE OF MILLER MATHIESON IN THOSE DAYS WHEN HE WAS THE AMATEURS' SECRETARY! Feel free to use any material you want to. I can send it separately if you want to use that. Miller was down here last week and Tam Lennox, Johnny Hamilton, John Jackson, and I spent some quality time with him and Alison, their daughter, and son in law. Sheena, Shulfs wife and her family also met up with them. As you can imagine there was much reminiscing and laughs. I had a meeting with an Ellon United official today and I introduced him to your website. He was delighted to have access to such material. The official opening ceremony for the new facility is to be next Saturday 11 September. If you fancy coming up, I'll put you up for the weekend! Danny Masterton who who played with us in the early seventies passed away a few days ago. Danny was a big likeable guy who was a first class striker,eventually signing for Muirkirk Jrs, Ayr Utd and Clyde, where he was top goalscorer for three years.
