KENNOX WELFARE

March 1933 saw the foundation of Kennox Welfare - a juvenile team playing their games at Holm Park Glespin.  Mr Jack Hood was appointed Secretary and Bob McGill Treasurer.

Their first game in the South Lanarkshire Juvenile League was at home against top of the table Netherburn Star and were narrowly defeated by 4 goals to 3

In the Nardone Cup the Kennox team had a hard game against Douglas West

Kennox Welfare resurfaced as an organised team in 1966 under the guidance of manager Tommy Lawson.  In their first game they defeated Mossend 7-2

Solely comprising Glespin lads, the team had been playing a number of friendlies for a couple of seasons therefore they were already very familiar with each others play.

With the assistance of Tommy McCabe and with Jim Batton coaching the team, they soon made a name for themselves finishing in the top three in thier first league season.  The team was strengthened by the addition of some players from Douglas, among them Michael Cronin and Tom Cook
