Traffic Problems in Cold Ashby

by Ashby Rambler - 15:22 on 04 April 2011

So the Community Speedwatch Scheme has become a victim of the financial crisis - a great shame as those of us that volunteered felt we were doing something to improve the safety and wellbeing of our fellow parishioners.

During the weeks when the scheme was in operation drivers slowed down and traffic volume decreased somewhat  through our village, making life a little more pleasant and less dangerous during the busiest hours.

The permanent VAS signs that have been installed do help to remind the more imaginative drivers that they are passing through a 30mph area where they need to watch out for people crossing the road - but they are not as effective as a 'speed gun' and a yellow jacket!

The Rambler sincerely hopes that we continue to receive the support from the police we have had in the past - or is this likely to be too expensive also?
