Cold Ashby Children's Playground Project

by Ashby Rambler - 14:59 on 27 March 2014

How good it is to witness the support that has been given to this project by villagers, Parish Council and County Council!

It demonstrates not only that community spirit is surviving in Cold Ashby but also that there is a general appreciation of what the provision of a children’s facility like this can mean to all of us, young and old, in the village.

We do need to create an environment that is welcoming to families with young children to prevent a further imbalance in age-groups and this development signals this intention in a truly practical sense.

It can be all too easy to accept that the present financial situation prevents the funding of improvements and lapse into pessimistic inaction.

This effort, and the money raised so far, gives us every reason to maintain optimism and believe that local action and Local Government can make a difference to the well-being of local people.

The latest estimated cost of the playground improvement is £42,000 and fundraising so far has achieved, I believe, almost £13,000.

Continued enthusiastic support is clearly necessary but this target must be attainable.
