What Swansea Could Have! 3

Here are a few wonderful old buildings that have been bought by the Academy Music Group. The AMG are partners with Live Nation. Together they both present all the top names in popular music around the world today in a varied range of venues across the world.

The venues shown here are classic examples of an old building being brought back to life after its cinema and bingo days come to an end. AMG usually spend anywhere between £2M and £5M on renovating the entire building and bring it into the 21st century.

This is how I see the Albert Hall for the people of Swansea, as a major world class music venue and renovated beatifully too!

I think you will like what you see.......

The o2 Academy Shepherds Bush in London opened 1903 as the Empire Theatre and became the number one variety theatre in the UK (the Swansea Empire was considered the second top Empire to perform at). It hosted the top names of variety from the UK and the USA right through until the 1950s. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s it was a BBC TV studio and it was from here the BBC would broadcast memorable shows such as The Generation Game, Crackerjack, Thats Life! and Wogan to name just a few. AMG bought the theatre in 2001 and spent over £3M on renovation and today many pop concerts are filmed here for DVD. Its a listed building with a capacity of 2000.
