Sjusjoen and the surrounding area is a cabin mecca. Known as Hytte, these cabins are every Norwegian Families dream. 

Often done out to very high standard they offer beautiful serene lodgings ........Imagine inside a warm cabin when it's minus 15 outside and the Aurora is flickering in the northern sky.

Here I will supply an up to date list of cabin booking agencies who can book a "Hytte" for you.     There are lots of lovely locations all around the Sjusjoen, Nordseter and Ljosheim area.

Sjusjoen Hytteutleie AS which means Sjusjoen Hytte Hire Ltd has around 35 hytte on its books, from 2 bedroom to 5 bedroom units.  Imagine arriving on a cold starry night to a warm cozy cabin in the forest!        Many of the hytte are around the Romasen and Natrudistilen area with some in Sjusjoen Village.

Rustad Hotel cabins and apartments

 As mentioned in the hotel section the comfortable and well appointed Rustad Hotel has a series of Hytte to rent.      They have 5 cabins and one apartment.   The cabins are between 20 and 100 metres from the hotel and the apartment is part of the main hotel building.     They are all in a lovely location on the edge of the lake, 5-8 minutes walk from the village centre.      The hytte sleep between 6 and 12 persons and you can be sure of top quality accommodation.

Sjusjoen Booking is part of the Fjellheimen, Vertshuset Fjellheimen and Hoyfjells Hotel organisation.     Sjusjoen Booking is an agency for cabins as opposed to owning their own.     If you have a cabin and you want to make money out of it get in touch, they can act as an intermediary.       The head office is in the Verthuset Fjellheimen and as they own a convenience store also they will have groceries deliverd to your cabin on arrival!           They advertise hytte from the basic to the luxurious so decide what you want and get in touch via the web site of phone.

Sjusjoen Hytter and Caravansenter AS

Sjusjoen Hytte and Caravansenter as the name suggests is the Sjusjoen Caravan site.     If you want to caravan this is the place!    The site is at the top end of the village just below the Birkebeiner loipe.    There is a cafe and bar at the reception cafe serving pizzas, chicken and chips, burgers and so on, as well as alcoholic drinks. Beers are best value in Sjusjoen!  Tea, coffee pastries and snacks too.    Very clean and inviting with great views from the terrace.  

Maybe Caravanning is not a major option for UK and Eire visitors but they have 7 hytte on site too.  They are classed as camping hytte with WC and handbasin, TV etc within the hytte but showers and sauna are in the facility block of the caravan site.   The hytte have 3 rooms and can sleep up to 6 persons, however 3 would be better as you would need to be friendly to sleep six!    According to the web site 2009 prices were 450NOK per night.       This is good value accommodation!

I stayed in cabin number 1 during August 2009....It was wonderful and ask for a deal.   The friendly site warden charged me 300NOK (€34.50) per night.    Very good value and a real home from home!

Give them a call the camping cabins are great and it is possible to have a really cheap holiday with 3 sharing and doing "own brand" - First Price shopping at nearby KIWI supermarket.      You could stay in Sjusjoen for around €15 per day.

Sjusjovangen, Kafe Hytte and Apartments

Sjusjovangen Hytte booking has its office right in the village centre at Graaten within the Kiwi Supermarket complex.    Very easy to find.   Sjusjovangen have a nice cafe too with lovely blue decor as well as the hytte and apartments to hire.     Most of the hytte are above the village with beautiful views across the lake and to the fjells.     There are 12 hytte and 4 apartments.   The 12 hytte are on the road to the old Sjusjoen Fjellstua now being converted into apartments so watch this space!

Nordseter Fjellstua Hytte

Nordseter Fjellstua has both hytte and apartments.    There is a whole "village" of 5 person cabins just below the Fjellstua, very compact and cozy!

Nordseter Fjellstua also has a large cabin 300 meters from the hotel which sleeps upto 13 people.    It is super luxury and is known as "Camp David"
