Ski Tour Suggestions

It is of my opinion that Sjusjoen area is the best Cross Country Ski destination in Europe, if not the world.

I will outline my favorite tours and day trips in this magnificent area.

Please feel free to contact me with your suggestions and I will add them to my website.

Also please feel free to print off any details you want as there is no copyright on this website.  It is here to give you information.

................................................................................................................................

First of all you will need a map. Statens Kartverk 1:50000 Sheet no. 2495, Oyer Lillehammer, is the one to have.    Similar to our beloved 1:50000 OS maps.   At the junctions of most trails there is a signboard with a map, so it is quite safe navigation wise.   However always be prepared with a map and compass and sensible gear.

It is a good idea to have an armory of ski trips based on the weather.     If it is snowy, foggy and windy make trips in the forest. If it is great weather get out onto the tops.
I shall make reference to the suitability of each trip based on the weather at the beginning of each description.  Based on about a week's trip to Sjusjoen I will start with an easy tour to get you started.

..............................................................................................................................

1) SJUSJOEN TO NORDSETER AND RETURN

Can be done in all weathers.   A good weather option via high tops and a forest option!
Only about 5km to Nordseter but a good start to a holiday.  If you are feeling fit the tour can be extended to fill in the day.    A great Cafe too at the half way point.     Start by heading out of Sjusjoen westwards picking up the track to Nordseter.   Its not so easy but you will find the way by using the sign boards at the junctions.  Its a gentle climb up through the Hytte area until you come out onto a bit of open fjell known as Hesta Myra.  The track is now level heading NW and climbs a bit then drops down to a junction at Hestasen. Take the left fork at this junction. Its then a roller coaster ride going mostly down hill through a new Hytte area.    Be careful if this is your fist day as there is a steep drop at one point!         At the bottom of the dip you are near to Nordseter.   A gentle climb passing the Nordseter ski tow brings you to Nordseter Cafe run by Pete the Dane.     Have a rest and drink and a Norwegian waffle.

Now you have the chance to decide how you wish to return to Sjusjoen.  There are 3 options.  1) The Low way for bad weather. 2) The middle way and 3) Over Lunkefjell if you feel good and it is fine weather.    1) For the Low way head back the way you came skiing down to the bottom of the dip below the ski lift. Take the track sign posted to Lillehammer passing the Nordseter Fjellkirk.  Have a look its nice to see.   The track drops down and down and be careful as you have to cross a road.   Ski on until you come to a junction. Follow the sign left, signed to Sjusjoen.   Its now a level run for about 2 km until you reach the famous Birkebeiner Loipe. Now for the hard bit.   Its a long hard climb back upto Sjusjoen but a good option if is is foggy or snowy.  In my opinion the other two routes back to Sjusjoen are better as average to good weather options.   2) For The Middle way   From Petes cafe turn right and head upwards to the right towards the top of Nordseter ski tow.   Take it easy as its steep.  Once at the top of the lift its a gentle ski upwards to the junction at Nordseter Fjellet.

Nordseter Fjellet junction                      Frozen tree....See the Poodle?

What fantastic views from here!  This is where you have the option to go over Lunkefjell or go the Middle way. For the middle way go right and off you go. its gently downwards through scattered forest all the way to the north side of Hestra Myra.  A level bit and a final fairly steep drop down to Sjusjoen.      Welcome back!   You made it!     3) Over Lunkefjell  At the Nordseter Fjellet junction keep straight on and gently climb upwards.   Its now open Fjell with extensive views. Up and down a bit and soon you will be on the summit of Lunkefjell.    The summit is marked by a post sporting the logo of Lillehammer Ski Club.    Follow along the broad ridge where there are often fantastic isolated frozen trees.   I once saw a tree that was frozen into the shape of a poodle.   (Or was it Tony Blair on his way to meet George Bush?)  You then come to the view point overlooking Sjusjoen.    Now...be careful as its a steep and long decent to Sjusjoen.     Welome home....you made it.

2) LUNKEFJELL, NEVELFJELL, NORDSETER AND RETURN TO SJUSJOEN

Good weather tour
After your first ski in Sjusjoen you may feel confident enough to take in a few of the tops. Lunkefjell is a great top with extensive views and makes a great start for a tour taking in Nevelfjell the highest top on the area at 1089m.  Start at Sjusjoen on the Birkebeiner Loipe heading a little east. At the first junction sign posted to Storasen go left and climb gradually up to the next junction posted to Nordseter via Lunkefjell.  Left again and now a long climb up onto the south top of Lunkefjell.

 lunkefjell south flank

A beautiful march morning on the south top of Lunkefjell with a view to Nevelfjell
Once you crest this summit there is a great view back to Sjusjoen lake and have a rest. There's even some wooden seats to sit on.   Carry on along the broad ridge. be aware there are some fast downhill sections. At the bottom of the fisrt dip you will pass the junction of the loipe to Kroksjoen and Hornsjo as well as crossing the county boundary from Hedmark to Oppland, marked by a tiny wooden sign.     Soon you will be at the summit marked by a cairn and the Lillihammer Ski Club sign.     Carry on downwards to Nordseter Fjellet junction. At the junction go right decending to a frozen lake and passing beautiful Hytte to the next junction on the Nordseter to Reina road.   Go straight across the road. Its now a long pull upto Nevelasen.  A fine view back towards Reinsvatnet and a place to stop for a break and tea from your flask   before the slog up Nevelfjell.

climbing up yo nevelasen

Now off you go upwards and take it easy. It's nothing hard and you will be captivated by the views opening up towards the Rondane and Jotenheimen. just keep going and you will be there.   On the summit there is a shelter hut and off to the west a little a cairn with a view indicator.

nevelfjell summit

Summit hut on Nevelfjell

If its nice weather why not take a trip 1 and half km to the next summit of Slaseater Fjell 1064m.    Ski back to Nevelfjell summit and now for the fun!  XC skis are not great at downhill but you have to do it.   Head back towards Nevelasen and if soft snow go off the track a bit.

descent from nevelfjell

A wonderful decent of Nevelfjell off the loipe.   Do it if powdery snow!

Once you reach Nevelasen dont go back the same way.  Go right heading into the woods with a nicely decending track round the west tip of frozen Nevelvatnet. Its a long and scenic drop down to Nordseter.  I remember cold cold hands here towards the end of the day, so I was ready for a cup of tea at  Nordseter cafe.     Here you are once again at Pete the Danes Cafe and ski shop. He has everything you need, groceries, ski bits, hats gloves, and the cafe.     I have a shop and cafe like this in Glenmore.
Now you have a choice.  A chance to combine a tour with public transport.       Every day the bus runs from just below the cafe at 14:25, 15:25 and 17:45 back to Sjusjoen.    A good option for bad weather or if you have had enough.     The other option is to ski back. Refer to tour No.1 above for ski options back to Sjusjoen.    Another great day and why not finish it off with a drink at Sjusjoen cafe next to Kiwi supermarket or at Laven bar.    Sometimes dancing even early evening.
...............................................................................................................................

3) KROKSJOEN AND GJESTBODASEN AND BACK TO SJUSJOEN

Good weather tour
This is quite a long tour but not difficult at there are lots of long easy sections. A trip though open fjell and scttered forest and Hytte.    Make sure the weather is good as it is an exposed route.    Take one of my bad weather tours if the weather is bad.   Once again take the Berkebeiner Loipe a litte east. At the first junction turn left and head upwards to Storasen. Quite a climb and it is surprise to see Hytte right on the summit. What a place to have a cabin! storasen summit
Its worth a few minutes to go right onto the summit of Storasen.    Back onto  the loipe and bear left going downwards trecking along north westwards on a terraced route through Hytte until you get to the junction of the track leading from the middle of Lunkefjell to Kroksjoen.    At this point it's a right turn and a fast downhill across what must be a big marsh area gently undulating until you reach the north tip of the frozen Kroksjoen.    Don't worry there are not Crocodiles in Kroksjoen!     A few more minutes will see you at the Mellsjoen junction where there is a bridge over the fast flowing water outlet which links Mellsjoen with Kroksjoen.    Here is a good place to rest and chat to other skiers.   Now it's time to go right heading south eastwards towards the Hytte settlement of Kuasen.

out on thr loipe

On loipe between Mellsjoen and Kusaen

At Kuasen head eastwards towards the rounded hill of Gjestbodsasen. The lopie just skirts the summit.   Then its a lovely gentle ski down to Midfjellet. Speaking of gentle this is the mid point and highest point of the Birkebeiner loipe.   I am sure many thousands of racers taking part in the Birkebeiner race have thought this is "far from gentle".    Midfjellet is another good place for a rest.  There the race huts to sit beside in the sun.   At this point you are on the Birkebeiner loipe with a possibility of a downhill run back to Sjusjoen.  If you have made good time and feeling well you can make a trip around Sjusjoen lake.    If you wish to do this take a left at the first junctionsignpaoted to Romasen.   Romasen is a Hytte settlement away from the SE end of Sjusjoen lake.   It is just over 3 km of levelish skiing to Romasen, with lovely views of the lake.

sjusjoen lake....south of    hytte at romasen

On the Romasen track                                 Hytte at Romasen

Cross the road at the Romasen car park.  Lots of Norwegian families park here and trek into their hytte.  The run along the south shore of Sjusjoen is lovely. Forest and hyyte land.   Sjusjoen lake's south shore is a glacial esker, and it seems the wealthy of Norway have their up market hytte on this scenic ridge. It's a gradual climb up to the west tip of the lake and here you are after a bit of steep down again right at the base of the village.     Home again.!!!!

4)    THE FOUR TOPS

Good weather tour
Exactly to the east of Sjusjoen are four Fjell tops....Snorvillen...Mostfjellet....Sollifjellet and....Natrudstilen.     To traverse these tops on skis is an excellent objective for the day.     Start off again heading eastwards along the Berkebeiner loipe towards Midfjellet.   At the Romasen junction you will see another loipe slanting away to the right and upwards towards the flank of the rounded hill above you. This is Snorvillen. A climb of about 1 and half km will bring you to the near summit.   The loipe misses the summit but it is worth making the detour around 500m for the views from the summit at 995m.

View of Snorvillen and Mostfjellet from Storasen above Sjusjoen

Heading southwards the loipe decends to the col between Snorvillen and Mostfjellet with a whoosh.   I usually sit at the dip and have a cup of tea. Climb up onto Mostfjellet and again a whoosh down to the junction where you meet the track coming from Sjusjoen to Ljosheim.    At this point you can make the quick hop up onto Sollifjellet up a steep scarp often pock marked with snow holes dug by....yes the British Army for overnight excercises.       Or you can avoid Sollifjellet and turn right and quickly be back in Sjusjoen via Romasen and the south side of Sjusjoen lake as in tour 3.  If you do go up Sollifjellet drop back down to the junction and head along the loipe eastwards to the next junction.    A good point for a rest.   Turn right at junction heading through a beautiful forested trail into Leindalen.

Beautiful forest trail to Leindalen

Carry on right into the col between Nattrudstilen and Sollifjellet.    You are right below the summit of Nattrudstilen now.    There is a great attraction these days to go to the summit of Nattrudstilen 958m as it is the top station of the Sjusjoen Alpine Ski Centre Chairlift and a cafe serves very good hot chocolate.   Drop carefully down the west side of the summit and pick up the loipe to Romasen.  A nice finish to the tour is to take the route along the Soth side of Sjusjoen lake as in tour 3 as described above.     You have made it back to Sjusjoen and done the four tops.

5)   SKI TO LILLEHAMMER

A good trip for bad weather as mostly in the forest
At some point in your holiday you are probably wanting to link up with some urbanisation. A ski to Lillehammer is a good day out with the added bonus it is mostly downhill and you can take the bus back up to Sjusjoen or Nordseter.
There is the option to make the trip a little longer by going via Nordseter with the added bonus of getting a hot drink at the Nordseter Cafe on the way.
Assuming you are starting at Sjusjoen pick up the Birkebeiner Loipe to the west of the village, basically curving round the top of the town and behind the Hoyfjells Hotel.   After a little while its a steep curving decent, so be careful to below the Birkebeinerbakken ski lift which is not used now as it has been replaced by new lifts at Sjusjoen Ski centre.  You are in the forest now so if the weather is a bit off no problems.   Beirkebeiner Loipe is wide and well maintained. Carry on and its a roller coaster ride with some exciting downhill sections. You will think you are zooming until super fit skiers zoom past you. photo here................
Keep going and very soon you will come to an ovious stopping place beside the river which runs out of Nord Mesna lake.  A lovely peaceful place to sit listening to the gentle swish of the river.  Many happy memories sitting drinking flask tea and eating apples and battling with e mails on my blackberry here.   Why do we have to put up with e mails.
lillehammer....the river stop

The river stop before the descent to Lillehammer

Now...its easy to think that Lillehammer is not so far away, but no.....Just beyond the river stop cross a wooden hump back bridge to a junction.   Here you have two choices.   Choice 1)    Go right.     Now you have a sting in the tail, that being the long slog up under electricity pylons but you have the interest of passing through the Olympic Stadium and Lillehammer Ski Jump.   The PYLON SLOG will soon be over and its a left swing and downwards to the Olympic Stadium.   Ski straight into it and imagine cheering crowds.   You can have you moment of glory skiing into the stadium too!      Here is Ski Stua Cafe .lillehammer olympic stadium

The Olympic Stadium above Lillehammer

Swing right passing the shooting range and pick up the sign post to Lillehammer.   It's now a downhill run through the woods and past wooden houses where dogs come out and bark and chase you, to the open fields.

Lillehammer Ski Jump

Through the fields to Lillehammer

Down through fields to the town

Once you have reached the field traverse left to the Ski Jump.   Its certainly worth a look especially if there are practice sessions on or better still a competition.  Now... below the jump it is a bit of a skitter though the fields to the town.     Maybe the hardest bit of navigation of the trip.     Make your way into the town centre where there are lovely cafes and dont worry about walking about in ski gear, many people do!   Drop down to the bus and rail station for the bus back to Sjusjoen or Nordseter.    Appropriate busses back are Mon-Fri   13:00 to Nordseter, 14:00 to Nordseter and Sjusjoen, 15:00 to Nordseter and Sjusjoen, 15:30 to Sjusjoen then Nordseter, 16:15 to Nordseter and Sjusjoen, 17:20 to Nordseter and Sjusjoen. On Sat and Sun the 16:15 does not run.    Note most of the busses go back via Nordseter so if you are feeling fit why not get off at Nordseter and ski back to Sjusjoen?
Choice 2)   From the junction just past the hump back bridge past the river stop the other option is to go straight on.    This option avoids the PYLON SLOG but there is a steep zig zag drop down to Lillehammer.  Go straight on at the junction. Its a level run across open ground to Kanalen. It's a canal.   Cross the canal. This is where the track gets steep.    It's fun and games but you will get down to Maihaugen.   ONce again the directions are unclear but a walk through the quiet suburban streets of Lillehammer will bring you to the town centre.     Then relax and take the appropriate bus.
Another option....Is to ski to Nordseter first.  Take the loipe past Nordseter Fjellkirk and drop down to Stora Myra...(Big Bog!)    Often Stora Myra is not groomed so the option is to head left at Stora Myra junction to pick up the Birkebeiner Loipe then follow the directions above to Lillehammer.    There is also the Nordseter Loipe to Lillehammer running to the North of the road. This is a great roller ride bringing you through the forest land to the Olympic Stadium from the north.         Enjoy your trip to Lillehammer.

................................................................................................................................

 6) TROLL-LOIPE TO PELLESTOVA, ROUND REINSVATNET AND RETURN

Make sure the weather is not bad as you are out on the open fjell for much of the time.
Head out of Sjusjoen as if on the Lunkefjell trip to Nordseter (See tour 1, item 3 Over Lunkefjell)    Climb up onto Lunkefjell and ski along the broad ridge to Nordseter Fjellet junction. Go right at the junction passing the beautiful hyyte on the way to Nevelasen as described in tour 2.     When you reach the road this is where things are different.   Do not take the loipe to Nevelasen, go off to the right for a few hundred metres. Then watch for junction and go left. You are now on the Troll-loipe and its a fast level and straight sprint all the way along the frozen south edge of Reinsvatnet.  Towards Pellestova there is a climb up through scattered huts to the junction at Pellestova.     Pellestova used to be a stopping Cafe and Mountain Hotel but I have stories of it going bankrupt some years ago and was demolished. UPDATE  March 2010. Pellestova has now been rebuilt and is now open again!   Now you have a choice.    If you want shelter and a cafe stop just ski westwards for about 1 km to Ilsetra Hotel.  It is posh but they are happy for skiers to pop in for a hot drink and so on.    Gaistova is only a few hundred metres further on for another Cafe and coffee stop.

Resting near Pellestova

If you have been to Illsetra or Giastova head back the way you came to the junction and carry straight on heading east.   If you have just come up from the Troll-loipe go right at the junction.    You are now on the Troll-sykling route which is a fjell road in the summer for mountain biking.  This runs fairly straight all the way to the junction at Ytre Reina.
Ytre Reina

At Ytra Reina

This junction makes a good reat stop.    Go left at this junction and it is a good long drop down to the river which links Reinsvatnet with Mellsjoen.  Be careful as its's fast. My ski companion at the time she took a right pearler here!     Climb back upwards following gently and traversing upwards on the Nordseter track.    When you reach the Nevelasen junction you have the choice to turn left back towards Nordseter Fjellet and a trip back over Lunkefjell or the Middle Way (See tour 1) back to Sjusjoen.
Or....If you have had enough why not carry on about 2 more km to Nordseter where you can visit Pete the Dane's Cafe and take the bus back to Sjusjoen. Busses at 14:25, 15:25 and 17:45 every day of the week.       Welcome back to Sjusjoen!

..............................................................................................................................

7TO HORNJO AND BACK

A tour for a good day as there is fjell travel and some wild terrain.
Head out from Sjusjoen on to the Birkebeiner Loipe going eastwards a little way.    As in tour 2 pick up the track signposted to Storasen and around 500 metres up this track take the left fork to climb up onto the SE flank of Lunkefjell.    Take it easy going up here as you have a long trip ahead of you.   Ski along the broad ridge and just at the county boundary there is a junction. Take a right turn. Now you are on the track to Mellsjoen.  It's a good drop down and a ski along the undulating area along the edge of Kroksjoen.....Once again dont worry about Crocodiles, they dont live around here.    You will recognise the Mellsjoen junction, a bridge and huts make a good rest stop.    Now its generally a northwards trip firstly skirting the edge of Mellsjoen then traversing round the hill, Mellsjohogda climbing up to Svartisen.    Svartisen is the highest point of this trip marked by a junction and signpost. Make a note of this point as this is where you will need to return to on you way back.    From Svartisen its a downhill run through scattered forest to a dip just before Hornjo.   Climb up and just over the summit is Hornjo Hotel.    You can ski right into the courtyard off the hotel.  Please go in a give then support.    There is a cafe area in the lounge area. Great waffles served by pretty girls and you are sure to meet other adventurous skiers often Danish as well as locals.   I even chatted to two English skiers last time I was there.   Hornsjo has a remote northern feel about it.    A great objective for a day trip from Sjusjoen or Nordseter.
Svartisen
Up at Svartisen on the way to Hornjo

Hornsjo Hotel ..... The loipe curves down from top left
When its time to go retrace your steps back to Svartisen. Unfortunately its mostly uphill to Svartisen. This is where you turn off your incoming route. Take the right turn signed to Nordseter and carry on to Ytre Reina.  Ytre Reina is a good place to stop for a rest.   There are some huts and an outside toilet too!      From here its a fast drop, a favorite place for a wipe out to the river that links Reinsvatnet with Mellsjoen.    Cross the bridge and carry on skiing gently upwards on the route towards Nordseter.   Just over the high point you will reach the Nevelasen junction. If you are feeling fit you have the choice to ski back to Sjusjoen over Lunkefjell or the middle way. (See tour 1)       If like me you fancy a hot drink carry on for another 2 km to Nordseter.  Just a word of warning.   The drop down to Nordseter is a bit steep so take care.
Why not nip into Pete the Dane's Cafe at Nordseter and then take the bus back to Sjusjoen.      The busses run at 14:25, 15:25 and 17:45 every day.
You have made it back to Sjusjoen and have achieved a good long trip.

................................................................................................................................

8)  ROUND THE LAKE THEN DOWN TO MESNALI

A good trip fro an easy day or bad weather option

 Round the lake

.By now I hope you have found your way about the village.    Keep down by the lake. A good reference point is the Laven Bar, just above Verthuset Fjellheimen. Take the road along to the Rustad Hotel as this is the starting point.       Take the track along the edge of the lake, it is a beautiful winding track, trees on one side and the frozen lake on the other.     It can be a busy track as it is number one for families.    You will reach the first junction at the main river flowing from Kroksjoen into Sjusjoen.  Its a fast river.   From here keep right and then right again at the next junction.     You will see you are working your way around the lake.   Keep going and follow the signposts towards Ljosheim.    You are now heading away from the lake up into Leindalen between the fjells of Sollifjellet 969m and Nattrudstilen 958m.    From the col its a lovely powdery run downwards towards Ljosheim.  (On the run down from Leindalen one day a whole school party was skiing down, scattered all over the loipe.    I did have to think what a contrast to our "elf and safety" culture.  Back at home half an inch of snow would be too dangerous and out in the hills in snow.........Oh my .....never!)

Down to Mesnali Down to Mesnali

A lovely long run down for around 3km. There is a turn to the right and a gradual climb. Stop at the main junction, the left turn goes off to Ljosheim but keep straight on and you will find yourself skirting the massive forested flank of the south side of Nattrudstilen and a long fun drop down, although with irritating ups to the Sjusjoen Ski Centre where the new chairlift rises up to the summit of Nattrudstilen. There is a great cafe at the base of the Chairlift and if you are short of time to ski to Mesnali you can catch the bus from the Alpine Ski Centre car park just ajacent to the cafe at 15.57 There are also training loops for national xc teams which are lit at night.     From here it's then a woodland ski down to Mesnali just by following the signs.
I like to take the bus back up to Sjusjoen. For regulars be aware the bus stop has been moved onto the main road away from the hairdressers shop.  I missed it because of this but managed to thumb a lift!
Busses run from Lillehammer to Sjusjoen calling at Mesnali at 12:35, 15:50 and 16:40.    The 16:40 does not run on Sat or Sun.
10 minutes will see you back in Sjusjoen......welcome home!

................................................................................................................................

9) SJUSJOEN TO LJOSHEIM AND RETURN TO MESNALI OR SJUSJOEN SKI CENTRE

This is a fairly long day out but there are good rewards.   Two of the rewards are two great cafes which make good objectives themselves and you start higher and end lower so there are some good downhill sections.
Using the Laven Bar as a reference point start heading around the lake in a clockwise direction.   Pick up the loipe at the Rustad Hotel and off you go on the beatuiful and winding lakeside track.     Cross the Fjelleva river flowing from Kroksjoen following the track southeastwards and yes, upwards to the coll between Mostfjellet and Sollifjellet.   Once at the col (you may recognise this spot if you have done the four tops tour) it is the start of a fine long run down towards Ljosheim.  Just keep going staright on at the junction where the loipe turns right to Leindalen.  You will zoom down through the forest running out into open land and frozen lake terrain before a slight climb upto the first Hytte of Ljosheim.

Cafe and Store at Ljosheim

Most skiers will look for the cafe at Ljosheim.    It is actually quite hard to find.   You need to turn left as you get roughly into the centre of the cabin settlement.   The is a cafe and small convenience store and a bar open from 6 to midnight.       If setting off from Sjusjoen at a normal time you will be here around lunch time, have a waffle!
It is now time to start heading back home.    A loipe runs south from the cafe for about 2 km to the southern hytte settlement.    Once you reach this southern settlement and a prominent car park it is time to swing westwards aiming towards the summit of Nattrudstilen, a prominent hil top ahead of you.   Follow the track to a junction at Vesle Moste.     Go left and now it is a spendid fast run down to a tiny cabin settlement also known as Nattrudstilen.

Cabins at the tiny settlement of Nattrudstilen

From these cabins it is a small climb up to the junction where the Leindalen track swings down towards the Sjusjoen Ski Centre and Mesnali.
Go left at this junction. After a few hundred metres the views open up to the left of Sor Mesna, it,s a fine place to be.     From here after a few irritating steep uphills there is a wonderful and sometimes steep downhill to the Sjusjoen Ski Centre where there are Olympic standard training loops and the Alpine Ski Centre.   This is the location of the next cafe.   At the base station of the ski lift there is a lovely cafe.  Make use of it if you have time.
Here you have two choices.....to get back to Sjusjoen    Choice 1)   If you are a bit late or simply have had enough there is a bus from the Alpine Ski Cntre Car park at 15:57.    The bus runs every day inc. Sat and Sun.     Be carful to get on the correct bus as the bus to Lillehammer also leaves at 15:57 from the car park getting you back to Sjusjoen at 16:07.     Choice 2)  If you have time carry on skiing down to Mesnali.   It,s an easy run down through the forest but be aware of some serious sharp turns! The Loipe runs out into Mesnali at the Montebello Centre with the bus stop at the end of the Montebello Centre access road where it joins the main road.  Busses run at 15:50 and 16:40 back to Sjusjoen.    The 16:40 does not run on Sat or Sun.           Welcome home after another great day on skis.
