Verna C. Rhodes (December, 2010)

 Verna C. Rhodes, 92, of Charleston was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 29, 2010.

She was a beautician, homemaker and loving mother and grandmother. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Bible Center Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Oswald Rhodes; parents, Andrew Lester and Rosa Lee Campbell; brothers, John Campbell, Curtis Campbell, Darrell Campbell, Eugene Campbell and Earl Campbell; and sisters, Nola Sims and June Underwood.

Surviving are her children, Elizabeth McConnell of Charleston and Rosalie (Rosie) Rhodes of St. Albans; grandchildren, George (Tara) Spruce IV of Charleston and Ann McConnell of Augusta, Ga.; step-grandchildren, Amy (David) Green of Decatur, Ga., David McConnell and John McConnell of Clarksburg and Paul (Nicki) McConnell of Staunton, Va.; great-grandchildren, Dillon Tucker of Winfield and Jakob, Hannah and Alexa Spruce of Charleston; and her sisters, Lorena Brooks of Fairdale and Amalee White of Somerset, Ky.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 at Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home (513 Tennessee Avenue, Charleston, WV 25302) with Pastor David Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the funeral home.
