Business Meeting Minutes
July 1, 2001
At 2:35pm the 2001 business meeting of the Ruckman Clan was called to order by Skip Neal, President, after a fine "pot luck" meal was eaten by all. Everyone present introduced themselves and told alittle about themselves.
The minutes of the 2000 Ruckman clan reunion meeting were accepted, as mailed and as presented. The current set of officers, elected July 5, 1998, was present :
Aaron Neal-President,
Bob Henry-Secretary,
Darren Winebrenner- Treasurer,
and Bob Ruckman-Historian.
Secretary Henry gave his report.
Treasurer Winebrenner gave his report: before today's collection the General Fund balance was $240.89---that is, $364.39 (this time last year) minus $123.50 postage and expenses. The collection for the General Fund was $174.00, minus $50 for shelter reservation, making the new balance $364.89.
Vickie Dove reported that the Scholarship Fund has a total of $14,777.85, $3962.18 in a savings account and $10,815.67 in a mutual fund. T-shirts of $150 also went to the scholarship fund. It was also reported that a portion of the estate of Russell Ruckman (amount undisclosed) went to the scholarship fund.
This was before this year's collection. This year, $2735.00 was collected for the Scholarship Fund, auction of 2 paintings by Gaye Martin for $85, and a USA flag wall hanging by Martha Parcher for $125, making a total balance of $17,722.85, before payment of scholarships for 2001.
The Scholarship committee, composed of Vickie, Ruth, Bob R., Linda, & Martha, granted 2 scholarships---to Andrea Halen for $1000 and to Brandon Tinney for $1500. Bob Ruckman spoke on the scholarship fund and how it works. Any Ruckman descendent is eligible. " A Ruckman mind is a terrible thing to waste."
Bob Henry moved that the 2002 reunion be held at Watago State Park, but the motion was defeated, and it was voted to hold the reunion at CPC again. A donation of $50.00 was approved for the shelter at Clifton Presbyterian Church (CPC) for 2002.
Wedding anniversaries were recognized for Bill & Reba Nye @ 56 yrs, Afton & Lou Martin @ 50 yrs, and Bob & Elizabeth Krodel @ 56 yrs.
Business meeting ended at 3:25pm. Folks visited for another 40 min. or so before departing (too hot to hang around in the sun with no trees or creek).
