In the Country

Sunrise...

Slumbering countryside awakes.  Misty haze promises a fine day.  In the meadows cattle graze, rabbits play.  On the farm, wholesome smells drift across on summer breeze.  Fresh baked cakes and rising dough.  Roses round a cottage door.  Honeysuckle and sweet peas.  Blossoms heavy on the bough.  Golden corn is standing high underneath a white hot sun and cloudless azure sky.

Sunset...

Pink streaked sky delights the eye.  Activities cease.  Workers gladly take their rest; all is peace.  Birds quieten and settle in their nests for night's repose; whilst they doze, nocturnal wildlife wakes and seeks its prey until the morning light, then quietly steals away.  When the heavenly bodies their night appointments keep, countryside sleeps.
