In this pose, the effect of foreshortening has reduced the length of the model's torso and shortened the legs below the knees. In extreme cases, the head could hide most of the rest of the body.

The model here, resembling a wounded Red Indian, holds a very difficult pose. Solidity is indicated by a soft touch of the pencil on the sides facing the light and heavy lines on the shaded sides. This is most noticeable on the legs.

Here the shading is indicated by strokes of a soft pencil.

This lovely, rhythmic pose, held for only two or three minutes, was captured with a charcoal pencil
