Surrealistic Themes
1. Family Ties (Watercolour)
A trio of figures, a family, is surrounded by interlinked swirls of thought patterns: those shared, unspoken, but fully understood intuitive threads that underpin every family, club, religion - every institution.

2. In Your Dreams (Oil Paints)
This image was over forty years in the making. I started it by painting the central pentagon over a discarded portrait when I lived in Cyprus, 1969 - 72. It was put away when the packing cases were opened on our return to England and was only relatively recently rediscovered. The completed picture was displayed at the University of Nottingham's Summer Exhibition, in the Djanogli Gallery. For the exhibition, I called it An Artist Searching for a Psychiatrist. It was a light-hearted title, which may have made viewers smile. The present title is more down to earth - unlike the painting itself!
3. The Sentinel (Oil Paints)
A complex of sensually curved tubes surrounds a metallic eye that stares over the viewer's left shoulder. The eye hangs in space from a gigantic metallic hook. Painted on hardboard in Cyprus about 1970, this picture was also consigned to the loft on our return to England. It was brought back to the light at the same time as number 2, above.
