1.The Embrace ( Gouache )

All unnecessary detail has been shed in this and in the following painting to produce a satisfying final imagse. This one is evidently inspired by Derbyshire's rivers, canals, hills and Victorian mills. Perhaps the bonfire through the arch reflects the embracing couple's inner emotions.

2. Duet on a Lonely Beach ( Gouache )

When viewing this painting my eyes especially enjoy the sensuous hills behind the instrumentalists and the foreshortened range of hills on the right.

3. Frozen Forest ( Gouache )

The viewer searches for ways through the solid tree-like crystals, wondering what could be hidden there. The orange shapes either dance in the foreground, or sink into crevices like strange shadows.
