George Bain Art Print

The International Day of Celtic Art, designated as the 9th June, is a special moment in the year when people who have an appreciation of Celtic Art are encouraged to display and share Celtic Art with a special sense of pride and purpose.  The Book of Kells and the Book of Durrow are associated with the great Celtic spiritual leader, Saint Columba whose feast day is 9th June

To celebrate the International Day of Celtic Art this year, Groam House Museum has produced a limited edition print for sale online.   This print is from artwork in the museum collection by artist and teacher George Bain from his in-depth look at the drawings in the Book of Kells and includes notes that he made about the content.  A Groam House spokesperson said  “We are thrilled to be making this very special and exclusive print available for sale and would like to thank the Bain family for their help and encouragement.”

Groam House Museum, in Rosemarkie, cares for the work of George Bain (1881-1968) which is recognised as a Collection of National Significance.  George Bain was an artist and teacher whose mission was to inspire everyone to make their own Celtic art.  He devoted much of his life to studying the intricate mathematical designs that appear on Pictish stones and early illuminated manuscripts such as the Book of Kells.   

The art print is from the opening words of St. John’s Gospel and is printed on A3  300 gsm heavyweight art paper in full colour and will be posted in substantial cardboard tubes.  

Prints are on sale at £30 each plus £5 postage.
