Lucy Hague
Lucy is a knitting designer whose work combines inspiration from Pictish stones with innovative knitting techniques. Lucy’s designs use cable knitting to recreate the sense of interlace flowing across the surface of the fabric.
She first started applying Celtic design to knitting after encountering the work of George Bain (1881-1968), whose work is also on display in the exhibition. Like Bain, Lucy’s aim is to communicate her designs to others, so that people can knit their own garments from her patterns.
If you’re inspired to take up your needles we’ve got some of her patterns for sale in the museum shop along with some rather beautiful locally produced yarn. If you are not lucky enough to be able to visit us over the next few months, head over to Lucy's website:https://www.lucyhague.co.uk/#/carradal-shawl/
