Fundraising for the troops and a variety of war causes was a constant activity in all communities, by individuals, school pupils and various groups and organisations. Significantly people continued to donate throughout the war years. The Black Isle Summer Fete in 1917 raised over £5,000, worth over £320,000 in 2017 money. It featured a number of war relics, including a Berlin bread ticket!
