The proposed boom between Rosemarkie and Fort George was constructed between April and July 1918. Documents state that the anchors on the Rosemarkie side were a bit further south than on this plan.

No photo or trace remains of the boom but this image shows a typical WWI boom with a warship entering the “gate”.
