Life before WWI - transport
Transport communications in the area included bus, ferry and railway. A railway branch line from Muir of Ord terminated at Fortrose station, giving access to the Black Isle for tourists and later for troops. Hastie’s omnibus provided a road connection between Cromarty and North Kessock linking with the ferry to Inverness. Chanonry Point was also connected to Fort George by ferry which was used during the war to transport troops and laundry to and from Rosemarkie |
