Last week at the D&W Dig I was asked by a 85 year old gentleman if I could search for a ring which he had lost whilst gardening in a nearby property.
So this morning myself and Pete Mitchell drove back to Blandford in hope of finding the lost ring, but we had to keep it a secret as to why we where there as he hadn't told his wife of the lost of his family crested signet ring, instead we where looking for a "lost penknife".
It wasn't the best conditions for finding anything ...as the pictures show but we gave it a go, and before the chap had returned with a welcome cup of coffee I had already managed to find the lost ring, the look on the old boys face was something I will treasure for a long time as he truly thought it was a lost cause, but not to be out done after a quick coffee I also managed to find his lost pocket knife.
The gentleman happens to own a few fields out the back which apparently housed the old priory, and yes we now have permission to search it, 😎😎😎
