Malcolms GI dog tag

Whilst out with David detecting on one of our permissions i found an American GI dog tag.

It belonged to a guy called Elmer Sheriff of Bellwood Pensylvania.

I decided to do some research. This had amazing results.

Concluding with two interveiws on American tv.

Today a Florida woman with ties to Bellwood, is one step closer to getting a piece of her father's history back.

Her Dad, Elmer Sheriff, served in World War II, and lost one of his dog tags while in England.

Then this past weekend, English metal detector enthusiast Malcolm Andrews found the tag and started working on getting it back to Sheriff's family.

I have posted the dog tag to his daughter Michele Boadway, Florida and if i get any more information i will post it.
