BIG WEEKENDER 18TH THRU 20TH AUGUST 2017

What an amazing weekend this turned out to be. Despite 2 false starts, the weather, and crops still standing in the fields we got there in the end. And like most life events "all good things come to those who waits". CLICK HERE FOR THE FINDS PAGE.

The Friday free field produced almost as soon as people set foot on it and carried on most of the weekend.

Friday evening a very sociable evening by the fire and a light hearted competition. 30 seconds to find 50 silver sixpences in a roped area. Sounds easy but proved to be very difficult. The winner managed 5. So 45 to find at the end. Bonus, ended up with 50 sixpences and 38p in copper and a Roman plus a hammered coin all out the same area. (see picture).

The Saturday Fields then turned up trumps beyond all expectations, GOLD, SILVER and everything else from Durotriges up to the present day. It did seem that there were very lucky people, lucky people and of course unlucky people but thats the nature of this hobby.

Saturday evening, and again around the fire with a quiz and Lili White who came and sang for us. A very enjoyable evening.

Sunday turned out to be a fair day after the slight mishap with permissions, (but this now has a siver lining) with some nice finds, including more GOLD, SILVER etc to come up especially the Saxon Silver coin.

In the afternoon the weather started to close in and the numbers dwindled but all came to a very happy conclusion.
