WEEKENDER 22/24th JULY 2016

A FANTASTIC WEEKEND. (in the end)

So it did not rain this time, instead the weather god said "well i've tried to drown them twice so lets incinerate them this time". Well it was hot but did it bother us? NO way. Most arrived on Friday and in the heat some ventured into the "Friday " field and oh woe vet tubes by the dozen. A little down hearted but hey we had a great time at the quiz and the food and drink was excellent. Some just may have overdone the ale and vino a little and looked like they were suffering a bit on Saturday morning. So 9 am Saturday and everyone has arrived and off we went. The finds were hard to come by again except for the cursed tubes. Then a scottish hammered appeared and that lifted the mood a little but by lunch time things were getting a little down so Malcolm had a word with the farmer and he kindly gave us permission to go to a field that was not on our plan. Straight away finds started to come up and we were back in business. So a great afternoon and many people were successful. The token "DETECT OFF" was hilarious and congratultions to Kyle who won the prize. A big thanks to Nick & Laura (Detecnicks) for helping us with the prizes. Every one enjoyed the quiz etc the night before so we did it again and another fantastic evening of fun and singing and drinking was had. Sunday and almost every one headed back to the good field and more very nice finds were made. So we drew to close and i think everyone went home reasonably happy. The farmer was also happy and he has invited us all back again, so watch out for information about that.
