Rudi's Message Probably the best Ska Band in Cornwall (and likely the world) will be performing at our very own village hall. We know that they have a huge number of followers in Cubert and Holywell and so the Carnival Committee thought it would be a good idea to bring them to you, rather than you go to them!! Actually, the band is reducing the number of small gigs that they do, so we are very lucky to have booked them. Tickets are on sale now at Londis (£10).
Saturday July 12th 7pm for a 7.30pm start
Murder Mystery Evening The Village Hall Committee will be delivering another Murder Mystery fund raising evening on this day and this time the theme is Pirates! Last year 90% of sleauths dressed up for the event, so do please dig out your pirate costumes and put some pieces of eight to one side to get your tickets! Tickets are on sale NOW at Londis. Tickets are £10, which includes a pasty and cheesecake. You can bring your own nibbles, and the Cubert Social Club bar will be open to serve a wide range of drinks into the hall (now we have a Premises Licence). Please note that this is a ticket only event and the tickets are limited, so best to purchase soon so not to be disappointed.
Saturday July 26th Starts at 7.30pm
Calvin's Big Fat Cubert Quiz The main theme last time round was TV Detectives and it was great to see team numbers back up again with nine full teams taking part. This month's theme is yet to be decided, but be rest assured it'll be another trip down memory lane. Pit your wits against each other at Calvin's 14th Big Fat Cubert Quiz. Bring your own drink and nibbles and the bar will be open for you. This is a fundraiser for the Cubert and Holywell Carnival Committee, with the monies raised going towards the Christmas Lights.
Saturday August 16th Start tbc
Elvis! (Is Still Alive?) This is a Church fundraiser event with tickets going on sale later in the year. Be warned! The tickets will go very quickly!
Sunday August 17th (Time to be confirmed)
Duck Race on Holywell Beach This very popular event marks the annual migration of hundreds of plastic ducks. Ducks will go on sale nearer the time.
Saturday September 6th 7pm for a 7:30pm start
Kath's Big and Juicy Prize Bingo! Monies raised are equally split between the Cubert and Holywell Carnival Committee and Cubert Church. This is always a well attended fun event so do get there in plenty of time to get a table. The event will also include a prize draw and Kath will no doubt do her fast and furious round at the end for the cash prize!
Saturday October 25th Starts at 7.30pm
Calvin's Big Fat Cubert Quiz
Saturday November 15th 7pm for a 7:30pm start
Kath's Big and Juicy Family Prize Bingo!
Friday November 28th Time tbc
Christmas Lights Switch-On! As usual, this event will take place in the square. There will be singing around the Christmas Tree, a visit from Santa and refreshments in the church. Hopefully, the Perranners will also be making a visit.
Wednesday December 31st To Be Confirmed
New Year's Eve Celebrations at The Village Hall. Last year, and rather last minute, the Social Club decided to put on a small NYE celebration at the hall. They expected thirty or so people to pop along and ended up with seventy! I've heard a rumour that they might be planning to do the same this year, but this time give plenty of notice. Anyway, the event is certainly not confirmed yet, so do watch this space!
Other Events
There will be other events taking place in the Village Hall and around the village this year and as soon as the dates are announced I shall publish them here.
Tickets for all of the ticketed events will go flying out of Londis, so watch out for further notices about ticket sale dates to avoid disappointment.
Please note that a number of the above events are organised by the Cubert and Holywell Carnival Committee. Although we have tried our best to give accurate information we would advise you to check the details on their Facebook page and on the posters that appear before each event.
