DIY Knock Box
Want a knock box but don't want to pay the fancy prices? Why not buy one of these from the internet or from a local catering shop. Click on the photo to get an example
They are called Gastronorms and you need the 1/6 1/4 or 1/2 size according to your needs. Get one in stainless steel and make sure it has a lip around the edge as in the photo above. Fit a piece of wood similar to broom handle tightly (this is why you need a lip to rest it on)
Split some rubber hose and fit it over the wood and there you are - a stainless steel knock box for a few pounds!
You can buy a lid to match and even make a wooden box to to rest it in
1/6 size 162 x 176mm
1/4 size 163 x265mm
1/2 size 325 x 265mm
100mm or more deep
Don't forget to buy one with the lip or edge to rest the wood on, not all have them and the alternative is to drill the stainless steel - not easy - and use screws to fix the wood
