   on the grounds that it would detract from the setting of the 

   World Heritage Site 

• This attractive landscape forming the rural setting of the

   World Heritage Site has been acknowledged by UNESCO 

   as making an important contribution to the Outstanding 

   Universal Value of the World Heritage Site

• There are highway infrastructure constraints

• The site includes a series of well used public footpaths

• The eastern part of the site is relatively distant from Belper 

   town centre

• The Grade II Listed Pottery Farm is situated in the northern 

   part of the site
