PHOTOGRAPHIC GROUP
11th August 2022 a very hot day to visit Hoe Grange Quarry, a male and female Wall seen by one member - Richard Tranter. Dragonflies and a variety of birds including Willow Warbler and Spotted flycatcher, were good subjects to photograph.
12th August 2021: Visit to Hoe Grange Quarry, 5 members enjoyed watching Emperor and Southern Dragonflies. Gerry Platt shared the location of an Elephant Hawkmoth caterpillar feeding on Rosebay Willowherb. Dave was succesful in seeing several Wall butterflies.
2020: Observations of a Slavonian Grebe, Cattle Egrets, Little Egrets and a Kingfisher at Attenborough, followed by Bank Voles at Codnor Park. Little Egret at Wollaton park and Green Woodpecker in her garden (Kathy Revell). Dave Gilbert seeing male & female Blackcaps in his garden in Wollaton (5.2.20) Marsh Tit (Brian & Margaret Hobby) Calke Park. Lots of Orange-tips seen during a very sunny April. Foxes, badger and hedgehogs photographed by Dave Gilbert in his garden.
2019 started with a Firecrest at Attenborough followed by Waxwings, Grizzled skipper etc see photos below.
During 2018, we saw adders at Ramsley Moor near Dronfield. 7 members saw water voles on the disused Cromford Canal between Cromford and Ironville. Clouded Yellow butterflies were seen at The Old Forge site near Ironville and Wall butterflies at Hoe Grange quarry.
During the year, photographs taken by the group are shared by email, as are locations of interesting sightings.
