TUFTED DUCK
At a distance these can be confused with the golden eye duck. They both are black and white and of about the same size. GOLDENEYE DUCK
The Wildlife Trusts website tells us that this duck Rocking an incredible hairdo, this is our most common diving duck nesting on flooded gravel pits, lakes and reservoirs. Tufted ducks feed on waterweed, plant seeds and water insects. Like most ducks, the 'drake' (male) has nothing to do with the incubation of the eggs or raising the young. The 'hen' (female) has eight to eleven eggs in a brood; the young becoming independent once their true feathers have fledged.

A bit of a neck stretch and some chest preening.
Mrs tufted duck is much less striking, but she is elegant in her own way. Her tuft is rather short and her chocolate brown enables her to hide when when nesting with her eggs and young.
