Deeside WalkorRun 22nd August 2010

This annual event took place on the 22nd August when runners and walkers alike benefitted from wonderful weather.

Around 45 members of the public took part in this family fun event now in its 8th year. Organised by Aberdeen Deeside Rotary Club in conjunction with the MBC Festival it is a firm favourite.

By 9 o’clock the first runners were eager to get off. Runners from local clubs set an admirable pace and achieving a few personal bests! A great start to the morning.  Corporate entries included Team Skene flying the flag (or wearing the T-Shirt) for Skene House, AVS with team mascot Angus and last but by no means least Annemarie and the Foodstory team enjoyed a very leisurely Sunday morning stroll!

The principal beneficiary this year was Grampian MS Therapy Centre and we were delighted that Jim Craig, Chairman and other members from the Centre were able to join the participants in walking The Old Deeside Railway Line from Cults - Milltimber and back.

Members of Rotary had volunteered their services to marshall the route and were kept busy dispensing water (kindly donated by Kelly of Cults) and energy bars. Several Rotarians also patrolled on bikes ensuring no-one ended up in Drumoak or the Duthie Park!

Diversity was the name of the game from babes in buggies to glamourous grannies all enjoying good company in the morning sun.

At this time, donations are still being gratefully received.
