Art Event 2013

This year's event was

UNDER A CHANGING SKY"

This was the tenth in a series of annual art events organised in aid of charity by the Rotary Club of Aberdeen Deeside,  held on Sunday 12th May at the Marcliffe Hotel, North Deeside Road, Pitfodels, Aberdeen where proprietor Stuart Spence has once again generously donated the use of the Grand Ballroom for the evening.  Guests were treated to a fabulous evening of art, fun and entertainment with renowned local artist Michael Samson, www.michaelsamson.co.uk.  The painting process started at 7.00 pm and was captured live and projected for all to see using a high-quality CCTV system.    Proceeds from the evening were donated to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and other  charities.

This year artist Michael Sampson not only painted a picture in the alloted time but also created a charcoal sketch and both were auctioned at the end by Tom Epps, who kindly donated his time and considerable talent,  with the proceeds being generously donated to the supported charities.

Due to the extraordinary talent of the artist and the auctioneer and the other works available for sale in the gallery the evening raised over £8,000 for Scottish charities, the main beneficiary. being Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, Scotland.

Very special guest, Toby Veale of Cults Academy, Aberdeen representing Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, Scotland said ‘I’m delighted that The Rotary Club of Aberdeen Deeside is supporting Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research at their Art Event 2013.  My dad loved being a member of their club up to the time of his death in 2009.  My last text for Dad when I was 11 (and clearly had trouble with some spellings) read, ‘Can you tell Dad that i’m going to do as many luclucimia charity events as i can and i really love him’ (sic).
Thanks to Dad’s ‘old Rotary club’, they’re helping me to fulfil my promise.’
